Work with us

Vacancy: Technical Support Specialist (Mechatronics Expert)

Location: Averbode (Base) + International Field Missions | GigaCom Benelux

Become our global technical authority on SAODF robotic systems and bridge the gap between field operations and R&D. At GigaCom Benelux, our fiber-optic patch robots are being deployed in high-stakes environments worldwide. We are looking for a Technical Support Specialist to join our service department. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, you will become the go-to expert for our most complex electromechanical and software challenges.

The Role: Expert Support & Training
This is a high-level technical role focused on expertise and knowledge transfer rather than people management. You are the "Tier-3" specialist who solves what others cannot, ensuring our field engineers are trained to excel.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Technical Escalation Point: Act as the primary expert for field engineers who encounter unresolved electromechanical or software issues.
  •  On-Site Expert: Travel to international customer sites when a hands-on,  expert analysis is required to solve critical robot failures.
  • Training Development: Translate complex technical solutions into training modules and documentation to elevate the skill level of our field engineering team in cooperation with the R&D and quality department.
  • Service Strategy: Support the Service Manager by identifying recurring technical trends and proposing structural improvements to the R&D team.
  •  Software Orchestration: Master the proprietary software that drives our robots to provide full-stack support (Hardware + Software).

Your Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electromechanics or Electronics.
  • Analytical Power: You enjoy deconstructing a problem until you find the root cause, whether it's a mechanical alignment issue or a software bug.
  • Communication: You are a natural teacher. You can explain "the why" behind a solution to help others grow.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel internationally (occasionally) as our global footprint expands.
  • Experience: Strong background in field service, troubleshooting, or technical support. You have reached a level where you are ready to train others.
  • Language: Professional fluency in English is essential for our international operations.

What We Offer

Specialist Growth: Deep-dive training to become a certified expert in our unique robotic technology.
Direct Impact: Work closely with the Service Manager to shape the future of GigaCom’s global support structure.
International Scope: A chance to work on high-end projects across the globe.
Package: A permanent contract, a flexible mobility budget, and a fast-paced environment with short communication lines.

Vacancy: Validation Engineer | MECHATRONICS & SOFTWARE

Location:GigaCom Benelux – Averbode (BE)

Drive the reliability of next-generation fiber optic robotics in a high-growth
international environment. GigaCom Benelux is at the forefront of automated infrastructure with our SAODF (Semi Optical Distribution Frame). Our proprietary robotic patching systems are transforming telecom operators and data centers globally. To fuel our rapid growth and dedication to quality, we are seeking a Validation Engineer. In this role, you will work side-by-side with our R&D team to design and execute robust verification and validation (V&V) frameworks for our cutting-edge mechatronic systems.

The Role
In this position, you will work alongside a senior R&D team to ensure that every iteration of our hardware and software meets the highest standards of precision and reliability. This is a hands-on role that requires both tactical execution in the lab and strategic thinking in test design.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  V&V Strategy & Execution: Set up comprehensive validation plans in collaboration with R&D and execute them in our lab. This includes analyzing repetitive precision, mechanical durability, and electronic stability.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Design and lead UAT scenarios to ensure the system meets end-user requirements and operates flawlessly in real-world environments.
  • Risk-Based Testing: Participate in FMEA sessions to identify potential failure modes and prioritize testing efforts where they matter most.
  • Software & AI Integration: Validate robot control logic and contribute to the refinement and training of AI-based computer vision systems.
  • Compliance: Ensure all robotic systems comply with the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) and align validation reports with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Perform high-level troubleshooting on complex system failures, providing actionable feedback to the R&D team to drive design improvements.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform root cause analysis on prototypes and document procedures for a smooth transition to production.

Your Profile

  •  Educational Background: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics,  Robotics, Electronics, or a related engineering field.
  • Mindset: A "hands-on" engineer who enjoys working in a lab environment and is not afraid to troubleshoot complex hardware-software issues.
  • Skills: Ability to work independently and think critically about test design. Affinity with sensors, actuators, and automated systems.
  • Language: Professional fluency in English is mandatory, as you will operate within an international structure.

What We Offer

Autonomy: The opportunity to build the validation department within a fast-moving scale-up.
Professional Environment: Collaborate with a highly experienced R&D team in a flat, non-hierarchical organization.
Compensation: A competitive permanent contract, supplemented by a flexible mobility budget.
Location: Based in our specialized lab facilities in Averbode, offering a focused and innovative workspace.
